We love bikes. We love to ride, whether it’s four hours of hard training in the rain, a race, a day trip, or an evening of bikes and beers. We started Baron so we could do what we loved. The bicycle market is full of mass produced frames from Asia, and if you want a custom bike built just for you, there are many options out there. But what if what you want is somewhere in between those two extremes? What if you care about supporting local craftspeople but don’t want to spend the time or money on a custom frame?
We respect the craft of frame building and want to see it thrive. To that end, we partner with talented, experienced frame builders right here in the US to build our bikes for us. When you buy a Baron, you are not only getting an incredible value, you are supporting local builders and enabling them to continue their autonomy. Your frame has been carefully and expertly handled from the selection of top-quality steel, through welding and mitering by the frame builder, to powdercoating, then to us, where we build it up with the best components. This whole process happens right here in the Pacific Northwest. We are committed to keeping it personal, local, and beautifully made.
There is a famous business strategy book about identifying hidden opportunities in what is considered to be a tapped market. Baron Bicycles is here to put that concept into practice in the bike industry. Over the next few years Baron will introduce bikes that will make you say, “Wow – I really need that!” or “How come nobody else came up with that?”. We aren’t getting rich on this strategy – that’s for sure, but we’re making bikes to fill the gaps that have frustrated us - and maybe you - for years.
Watch this space to see what’s next from Baron. It'll probably be urban, utilitarian, and certainly another bike that you absolutely can't do without. If you’re interested in following along – hit Geoff up with an e mail and he’ll keep you in the loop. See you on the road!
