Ti Race Whip. Booyeah 08-27-10
My homeboy Andrew sold his children and bought a Ti travel race bike.
Pictures of it built up coming soon.
He kicks out 1400 watts in a sprint so we added the beef.

Many people come to us and ask for a bike that fits, has no toe overlap and has a ‘normal’ length stem. Well this is pretty much impossible with a 700c bike. Now with a race bike it’s OK to have some toe overlap as it only rears it’s head on really tight low speed turns such as turning around in a parking lot, but for some commuters no toe overlap is key when you’ve got a loaded bike and you’re weaving through traffic downtown.
So we worked with Matt at Counterbalance and put together this 26” Outsider for one of his customers. Why 26” you ask? Well that tire size is available EVERYWHERE; as are the tubes. We tried to make the proportions work with the size, everything still looks right. This also means that yes, we can do kids
bikes.
Come see who will prevail, the crossers or the roadies on a course blending gravel and tarmac.
Details can be found in this post.
Recently I picked up a haulin’ colin trailer from his new stock line. I’m trying my best to be car free and one of my biggest challenges was moving frames, bike parts and complete bikes. After testing it out for a few day by taking a friend for a ride and trying to coax my dog into the back (didn’t work) I felt up to the challenge to ride to the Sound to Mountains Bike Fest where we were setting up a booth. My plan was to take three bikes and my Mission Workshop rolltop bag in the trailer.
Waking up at 5 AM to make the ride wasn’t an easy undtertaking, but it would turn out to be one of the easier tasks of the day. I forgot how quiet Seattle streets are at that hour. I also forgot how not many coffee shops in my area are are open that early so after taking my normal route the first stop was Starbucks on Leschi.

From here the hard begins. My route followed the path out to factoria, and then over to the trail that parallells i90 into Issaquah which is quite nice.

From here I had two choices, take a gravel path along i90 for an unknown number of miles and then take some unknown roads, or take Issaquah-Fall City road. I opted for Issaquah fall city road which rolls is way towards my destination in North Bend on some beautiful roads. The only sucky part was climbing up to Snoqualmie falls with no shoulder.

Come on out to the Sound to Mountains Bikefest this weekend. There is a century ride through some beautiful country followed by a party, complete with music, food and an expo area. Baron will have some bikes there, as well as a couple of haulin’ colin trailers (we may even ride our booth out there in a trailer caravan.

The ride ends at Bybee Nims Farms, and there is a shuttle going to and from downtown for those not up for the century.
This is how I’m moving frames now. I’ve got a Haulin Colin trailer on the way which should be even sweeter and more cargoable.
I’m going to put fork monts on it so I can transport two to three complete bikes.

What kind of race is the Rhonde Ohop? The Rhonde Ohop is a Northwest-style Kermesse race. Kermesse are circuit races that incorporate dirt sections between 25 and 50% of the total race length. The races run between 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
What’s a Kermesse? Kermesse literally means “fair”. In Belgium it refers to short, fast circuit races run in small towns during the week. The races are often include cobbles and rough pavement. The Kermesse races held in Washington and Oregon evoke the traditional Belgian Kermesse.
Is this cyclocross? The Rhonde Ohop is not a cyclocross race: there are no barriers or run-ups. However, cyclocross riders looking for a good warm-up to the season will find the race a good mix of power and technique.
What kind of bike should I use? The Rhonde Ohop has been held five times and won on a road bike four times. Overall podiums representation is about even. The most important consideration are 25-28c tire to resist flats and a well maintained bike.
What kind of rider wins? Kermesse races are designed to favor riders who have a balance of skills: power, pack riding and technical. Riders who race both road and cyclocross have an advantage but riders who specialize in either discipline should be able to enjoy the race as well.
11:30 at Revolutions Espresso by Greenlake. Coffee then departure. I have a long hard loop with some good ridable run ups, fast sections and some technical, but it will be fun for all. Afterwards we chill in the grass at my secret spot.

You know what fall means, cyclocross. What, it’s not fall yet? you would think so with the weather. Just in case you didn’t know SSCXWC is in Seattle this year, and as a Seattlite born and raised I’m proud to have it in MY town.
Here is a little video to get you thinking cross again.
